If home skin products aren't addressing your issues, but you aren't ready for cosmetic surgery, learn more about nonsurgical treatments to rejuvenate the skin, like microneedling. Our skilled cosmetic team is pleased to offer microneedling (also known as collagen induction therapy) at our office in Tacoma, WA. This treatment is performed with the SkinPen, which incorporates several fine-gauge needles to safely and effectively create micro-injuries in the needed areas of the skin. The micro-injuries trigger the body's natural production of collagen and elastin, two nutrients that enhance the appearance and health of your skin. Easily combined with other skin treatments, like serums or PRP (platelet-rich plasma), microneedling can help reduce scars, pores, and stretch marks. Schedule a consultation at Aesthetic Surgery Centre & MedSpa to hear more about the benefits of this new modern treatment and ways to customize the procedure for your needs and goals.

It's painful, however, they take time to make sure I'm as comfortable as I can be. I would highly recommend Dr. Woodman to anyone. He has an experienced staff as well."- M.M. / Google / Jan 02, 2021
"Dr. Ehret took out my old implants not knowing what size they were because I had them put in a long time ago by another doctor. I communicated with him that I liked my size but only wanted them a slight bit bigger and lifted. I was worried a little because we didn’t know the size of the implant that we were replacing until he took them out during surgery. They turned out absolutely perfect.. because he listens very well to what I wanted:) 5 stars!!"- S.S. / Google / Dec 19, 2020
You may benefit from microneedling if you have slight to moderate skin issues, like a decrease in elasticity or rough skin texture. These treatments can also minimize the appearance of pores, scars, and stretch marks. You must be willing to wait a while before seeing improvements from your microneedling treatment since the collagen and elastin will need some time to have an effect on the skin, but you will develop natural-looking results and gain healthier overall skin.
A microneedling treatment is completed inside one of our private treatment rooms in about 30 – 60 minutes. We can administer a numbing cream or local anesthesia if requested, but patients generally report mild or no discomfort. The skin being treated will be cleansed before the SkinPen is passed evenly over the surface area. After your procedure is complete, a topical treatment, like platelet-rich plasma (PRP) or a vitamin-infused serum, can be applied for deeper penetration of the nutrients into the skin. A moisturizer will be massaged in along with UV protection since your skin will be sensitive after the appointment.
WHAT TO EXPECT
After your treatment, you may experience mild swelling and redness on the affected area for about a day, but this should fade naturally. It may take about 1 – 2 months as your collagen and elastin levels increase before you see visible improvements in the health and appearance of your complexion. You should plan to get about 4 – 6 maintenance treatments every 4 – 6 weeks for ideal results and long-lasting skin health.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How much does microneedling cost?
You microneedling costs will vary, depending on what is in your plan. During your consultation, we will analyze your skin and develop your customized plan from there. After this, we will go over your costs and procedure details. Aesthetic Surgery Centre & MedSpa frequently offers specials on treatment packages so ask about current deals during your consultation.
What exactly is microneedling?
Also known as collagen induction therapy, microneedling is a nonsurgical treatment to rejuvenate your skin. Collagen is a fibrous protein that helps keep your skin supple, smooth, and tight. Eventually, your stores of collagen are depleted and your skin becomes less elastic and thin. Microneedling makes small wounds in your skin. These micro-injuries cause your skin to increase its collagen production and generate new skin cell growth. Once healed, your skin looks firmer, brighter, and healthier.
Can I combine other treatments with microneedling?
During the treatment process, channels are created in your skin that make it easier for treatments to penetrate the deeper layers. This is why microneedling is frequently combined with other treatments, like vitamin-rich serums or platelet-rich plasma (PRP). During your consultation, we can explain what treatments may be performed along with your procedure to best fit your skin goals.
How many treatments are recommended for optimal results?
Typically, patients need to receive 3 – 6 sessions to get their best results. However, the number of treatments you need will depend on your skin's condition and your goals. Microneedling can be performed every 4 – 6 weeks as needed. During your consultation, we can estimate how many treatments you will need based on the starting condition of your skin and what improvements you would like to see. Once you have reached your goal, we recommend getting maintenance treatments about twice a year.
Is microneedling safe for everyone?
In general, microneedling is safe for all skin types and tones. Since the skin injuries created are so small, there are rarely side effects after the treatment. This technique can be applied to most areas of skin, including the face, arms, neck, chest, and legs. This treatment is not recommended if you have taken Accutane recently, as well as if you have an open wound, active skin infection, or herpes simplex. In addition, you may not be a candidate for microneedling if you are pregnant, nursing, or undergoing radiation treatments.
