Microblading IDEAL CANDIDATES
The microblading procedure is a great option for men and women alike who want fuller or a more defined shape to their eyebrows that lasts a long time and looks natural. Many people at Aesthetic Surgery Centre & MedSpa who receive microblading tend to have slender eyebrows that need added fullness or have small, patchy areas that they wish to fill in. Thin eyebrows or bald spots can be caused by genetics, surgical scars, traumatic injury, overplucking, nutritional deficiencies, and aging. Unlike tattooed eyebrows, microblading creates a result that looks more natural and provides full coverage and filling in small areas of the brows. Microblading can also help add a slight arch to the brows for more shape. Patients considering this procedure should be in good overall health, not currently pregnant, and do not have severe diabetes (high blood sugar levels can compromise the healing process).
Microblading PROCEDURE TECHNIQUE
Before your procedure, you will receive a thorough evaluation to assess the state of your eyebrows. Depending on your concerns and wants, a personalized treatment plan will be developed for your microblading session. The treatment can be done in our office with a numbing cream or local anesthesia to reduce discomfort. Based on your treatment plan, the microblading session may take anywhere from around 1 – 3 hours. To start the treatment, your natural eyebrows will be lightly combed and trimmed if needed. Your brows will then be marked with a pen tool, which will act as an indicator for where the microblading will be used. Aesthetic Surgery Centre & MedSpa uses high-quality inks and the artistic eye of an experienced technician to create natural-looking strokes that match individual hairs for your best results.
WHAT TO EXPECT with Microblading
Immediately after your microblading appointment, you will be able to leave and continue all activities with no recovery period required. You may notice mild redness in and around the eyebrows, but this typically fades in 1 – 2 hours. Your eyebrows will look much darker right after microblading, but they should fade to your desired shade in about two weeks. We recommend that you schedule a follow-up appointment about one month after your initial treatment to touch-up and finalize your eyebrows. The results of microblading usually last about 1 – 2 years, but treatments can be done as needed to maintain your results.
Microblading FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Why would I choose microblading over permanent makeup?
Microblading and eyebrow tattooing (permanent cosmetics) have many differences. Permanent cosmetics are done with a tattooing machine so the ink is deposited much deeper into the layers of skin. Despite trying to create the look of real hair, this can often lead to an appearance of thick, unnatural-looking lines. Microblading, however, uses a special hand tool that sets the pigment more superficially, which does a better job at creating an appearance of fine, hair-like strokes. Although it does not last as long, microblading yields effective, natural results. It looks so natural, in fact, that this procedure can be done for those with no eyebrow hair at all.
Do my eyebrows need to be shaved or removed before my microblading treatment?
No. In fact, we ask that you not do any eyebrow waxing, plucking, or threading for at least two weeks before your procedure. Eyebrow shaping will be done by your microblading technician just before the procedure so you can achieve the exact shape you want.
How do I know if my eyebrows could benefit from microblading?
The look of anybody's eyebrows can be improved with a microblading procedure. Not only does this technique fill in spaces and add depth to the eyebrows, but it can also make your brows appear more symmetrical, which is a struggle many people experience. While some choose microblading to address symmetry, others may seek it out to attain fuller-looking brows.
