ABOUT FRACTIONAL LASER
Fractional Laser Skin Rejuvenation at Aesthetic Surgery Centre & MedSpa is a nonsurgical cosmetic procedure that utilizes pulsating beams of light that heat the collagen matrix, which creates collagenisis. The treatment is great for correcting facial lines and wrinkles, as well as for improving skin blemishes, like acne scars and more. Laser skin rejuvenation is a great facial treatment for patients desiring softer, clearer, youthful-looking skin. Depending on the condition of the patient's complexion, our fractional laser can be adjusted to suit your unique needs. There is some downtime needed with most laser skin rejuvenation procedures. Any concerns or questions can be discussed with one of our skilled Tacoma, WA plastic surgeons during your private consultation.
What is a fractional laser?
Fractional lasers can be both ablative and non-ablative, and they are effective in breaking up laser energy into tiny beams. This helps to treat a fraction of the skin at a time, allowing for more effective healing times. Fractional lasers are beneficial for skin tightening and for treating a number of skin concerns, including wrinkles, fine lines, scars, and hyperpigmentation. The medical spa at the Aesthetic Surgery Centre uses a non-ablative fractional laser for skin rejuvenation.
Fractional Laser Reviews
"First class experience - I had heard a lot about Dr. Pratt through my friends, who had surgery with him previously. Anyone that I know that has surgery with him has been exceedingly happy with their results. Because of his superb reputation, I met with him to discuss some facial aging concerns. During my initial consultation, everyone in the office was incredibly pleasant and professional. His office staff is warm, friendly, and caring. Dr. Pratt answered all of my questions, and I thought he had a great bedside manner. After meeting with him, I booked a surgery with him, which included a facelift, browlift, laser resurfacing, and eyelid rejuvenation. My experience with Dr. Pratt's surgery center was equally exceptional. His anesthesiologist and nursing staff were fantastic and delivered incredible pre- and post-operative care. Their facility is first class. My recovery was uneventful, and I thought the post-operative instructions were clear and concise. I am so happy with my results, as they are very natural in appearance, without any visible scars. As a nurse, and patient of Dr. Pratt's, I recommend him highly. He is a very talented surgeon, and has a wonderful, warm bedside manner"- Anonymous / Vitals / Jul 04, 2014
"I had a full face lift and upper eye lids done and laser resurfacing. The face lift was very natural looking but I was not happy with the eyelids. One eye was left shaped differently and smaller than the other. Under the eye a small swelling never went down and a lump remained near the temple which I have to cover with hair. When I mentioned the difference he stated the eye was always smaller. The laser resurface burned terribly and nothing could help the pain for the first week."- J. / Healthgrades / Jul 23, 2018
"Co2 under eye Laser resurfacing - So I Had some excess sagging (crepe)skin under my eyes making it hard to wear makeup. So I went to Dr Woodman, whom I've had other small cosmetic procedures done with, and this is the treatment we decided for my age. I have always had problems around my eyes with bags Etc. Will most likely have my upper eyelids done someday but for now this was a great start to refresh my under eye area. This recovery will most likely keep you home for around 11-14 days so I recommend getting the time off from work to heal! I did wear a little makeup around day 11. But I'm sure it varies between people. Recovery was as expected and although pretty ugly, it wasn't bad after the first day or two. He also did some treatment done on my smile lines making it slight more expensive. (Nasal labial)"- K. / RealSelf / Sep 22, 2020
WHO IS A CANDIDATE FOR A LASER SKIN REJUVENATION TREATMENT?
There are several factors to take into consideration when deciding which laser treatment is right for your skin. Laser skin rejuvenation is designed for anyone who is unhappy with their general complexion. If you have sun damage, acne scars, age spots, lines and wrinkles, redness, or pigmentation concerns, laser skin rejuvenation treatments can be performed to address these cosmetic flaws. This treatment is not recommended if you have very dark skin or active acne. Some patients, depending on the condition of their skin, may need anywhere 2 – 6 days for recovery.
LASER SKIN REJUVENATION TECHNIQUE
When you have a deeper or more intense laser skin rejuvenation treatment, you may be asked to use a retinoid cream for a few weeks before your laser procedure. This helps prepare the skin for better results. Before treatment with laser ski rejuvenation a topical anesthetic will be used to numb the areas the laser will target. During the procedure, you will relax in our treatment chair while the laser glides over the skin, precisely targeting the specific sections for rejuvenation. You will feel the warmth from the laser followed by cold air from the built-in cooling system. The laser works to eliminate dead and damaged skin cells while also stimulating your natural collagen production.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT AFTER A LASER TREATMENT?
After the skin rejuvenation laser treatment the skin will be quite red for up to 24 hours after initial treatment. Some mild swelling can occur but typically only lasts a few day. All patients should reduce their sun exposure after their treatment and apply sun protection frequently. ABout 5-7 days after a fractional laser treatment some very mild cellular turnover may occur and we encourage patients to keep the area moist during this enitre time. It is vital to avoid interfering with the healing process to avoid scarring and to protect the treated area from UV exposure. Once the peeling process has been completed, your skin will feel softer while looking younger, clearer, and rejuvenated.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT LASER TREATMENTS
How much does laser skin rejuvenation cost?
Laser skin rejuvenation costs vary based on the treatment type you choose. During your consultation, a member of our team will assess your skin's issues and goals before discussing the different types of skin rejuvenation treatments. Then, we can help you select your ideal treatment and discuss costs. Occasionally, Aesthetic Surgery Centre & MedSpa offers treatment specials and discounted packages so ask for more information during your consultation.
How can I help my skin recover after a resurfacing treatment?
We will explain how you can help your skin heal effectively after receiving a laser skin rejuvenation treatment. The number one rule is to not pick or peel your skin and to keep it moist and protected from UV rays, all of which could lead to lasting damage, like scars. You should cease all hair removal methods in the treatment area, which means no shaving, waxing, or depilatory creams on regions where your skin was treated. We will recommend an ointment to help soothe and heal your skin during your healing process.
Should I get laser skin resurfacing, laser skin rejuvenation, a chemical peel, or microdermabrasion?
After listening to your skin issues, we will help you decide whether non-ablative laser skin rejuvenation, a chemical peel, or microdermabrasion treatment best fits your needs and goals, or if a surgical consultation for a more aggressive laser peel might be in order. While they all improve the surface of the skin, each procedure has its own benefits, and some are better for targeting certain irregularities. During your consultation, we can discuss each option and make a recommendation for your treatment.
How often should I get laser skin rejuvenation treatments?
Depending on the laser skin rejuvenation method you and your surgeon have selected for your treatment, you may need to wait a few weeks or even months between appointments. Deeper treatments will provide longer-lasting results but will require more time for recovery. You should talk to our team about how often you are willing to come back for treatments so we can take this into account when suggesting a type of resurfacing during your consultation.
