"Lower Face Lift Review of Dr. David Pratt in Tacoma, WA - At 60 I decided to get a lower facelift. After a consultation with Dr. Pratt and based on other’s recommendations I scheduled my surgery with him. He did an excellent job, I couldn’t be more pleased. The look is very natural and refreshed, it is not obvious that I’ve had plastic surgery. Dr. Pratt gives you all the time you need to ask questions. After the surgery you have a lot of follo..."- O.M. / RealSelf / May 29, 2018
"I cannot say enough positive things about my experience with Dr. Woodman. From my initial consultation through completed surgery and follow-up, I received excellent treatment and I am beyond thrilled with the results! I am two months post-surgey and I am feeling and looking fantastic. I honestly can say the change in my appearance is a vast improvement. I actually feel pretty for once in a long time. No more bags under my eyes, no more sagging jaw line and no more turkey waddle! I consulted with several top plastic surgeons in the Seattle area and I am so glad I chose Dr. Woodman. Dr. Woodman was the ultimate professional, yet warm and friendly. I called him post surgery a couple of times with questions, (even once on his day off, a holiday) and he quickly called me back and was not one bit put out for the interruption. I highly recommend Dr. Woodman for cosmetic facial surgery."- D.B. / Google / Nov 05, 2020
"Dr. Woodman and his staff are beyond first class. They are fabulous. Over the years, I've had two procedures done by Dr. Woodman (lower blepharoplasty first, and then upper) while my wife had a complete upper facelift. On all occasions, the work was superb. Dr. Woodman is beyond caring and patient. It is obvious he cares intently about achieving an optimum result, and with greatest possible patient comfort and least possible stress. It's also obvious he has great skill and knowledge. I could not more highly recommend Dr. Woodman, and his staff. They are beyond professional, all caring and efficient. The surgery center is right next to the office, and every element hums with clean efficiency, warmth and precision. I've noticed some complained that Dr. Woodman may sometimes be untimely in meeting you for your appointment. I've indeed experienced this, but I also understand the reason. It's because Dr. Woodman is unwilling to shortchange a prior patient in such attention as a prior patient needs. That's his level of caring. I don't want Dr. Woodman rushing away from me so as to be timely with the next patient after me. I therefore can't expect him to rush away from the prior patient's needs so as to be timely with me. Candidly, I prefer that as Dr. Woodman's priority -- in particular over a physician who cares first and foremost about always being on time."- G.R. / Google / Jun 14, 2021
"Over the years, my face had began to fall/sag/droop, whatever word you want to use. I had very puffy areas under my eyes and my eye lids were so droopy that I stopped wear mascara because it wouldn't show anyway. I also have a bit of a recessed chin, so my 'turkey neck' was very visible. Those 3 things really bothered me. I am in outside sales and have to look energetic and enthusiastic and I was looking tired and old (even though I wasn't tired). I began researching face lifts about 5 years ago. I am not a stranger to cosmetic surgery, I have had breast augmentation and a tummy tuck, but I was much more nervous about my face. I visited many Cosmetic Surgeons from Bellevue to Seattle and on to Tacoma. I had different experiences with each of them. I never told any them that I had already been to others, because I wanted to hear their opinions/suggestions. Some were downright scary in what they were recommending, others were ok....but when I met with Dr. Woodman, he was spot on with everything I wanted. What I wanted was to look like I was refreshed, not that I had had surgery. I knew when I visited with Dr. Woodman, he was the one. I totally trusted that he completely understood what I wanted and could absolutely accomplish it. He also shared with me interesting knowledge that I hadn't known, which was surprising after how many Dr.'s I had been to for advice/suggestions. Truth be told, I went with my instincts and they served me well, as usual.I am not a shy person. so I told everyone I knew that I was getting it done. Most of them were horrified, especially the men. However, I am very happy to say that these same men are now constantly saying to me "Man, I cannot get over how great you look, you had an amazing surgeon!". Its funny that men comment on it more than women. I run into people that I haven't seen in years and they can't even tell I've surgery, they just think I am aging well. Its been a perfect experience for me, Dr. Woodman and his entire staff were thorough, knowledgeable, attentive....I cannot say enough great things about all of them. 5 star organization for sure!"- J.B. / RealSelf / Jun 19, 2018

Facelift surgeries are performed to reposition the soft tissues of the mid/lower face and neck. Ideal candidates for this procedure are those who often find themselves bothered by noticeable facial wrinkles and lines. These can be present on the entire face or a specific section, such as the mid-face and lower face. Facelift surgery can address various sections, depending on the signs of aging. It is important to understand that age does not necessarily determine the right timing to have a facelift. There are many concerns unique to you and your body that can play a part. To address these, there are numerous lift types that can be performed. The ideal treatment will vary for patients who are in their 40s versus those who are over 60, as these patients often have different needs. Skin laxity is one of the most important components in the surgery planning process. Facelift patients should be in good physical health and refrain from smoking. Just as well, you should have realistic expectations for your outcome.
Regardless of your aesthetic concerns, there are numerous surgical techniques to consider. Some facelifts treat the upper portion of the face while others focus on the middle and lower. Moreover, certain methodologies are slightly more invasive and intricate than others. It is also common for patients to have a brow lift, fillers, or BOTOX to complement their outcomes. A few of the more common facelift techniques include:
- Full Facelift
Considered the gold standard, the full facelift usually places an incision near the hairline. From there, it extends down to the temple region and ultimately reaches the base of the ears. The underlying facial tissues and muscles are delicately pulled and securely tightened to produce a lifted appearance, which diminishes excessive wrinkles and sagging. A full facelift is reserved for patients who show signs of advanced aging. With this lift, several procedures may be combined, including an eyelid lift to enhance the eyes or a neck lift for the lower region.
Incorporating a similar method to the mini lift, the cheek lift (known as a mid-facelift) focuses on the droopy features around the cheekbones and the upper jaw. This lift works great for those who desire improvement in the lower two-thirds of the face, including the jowls.
- Lower Facelift
A lower facelift addresses the neck region and chin, and in many cases, the jowls. Nonsurgical methods, such as Kybella or laser skin tightening, can also be used for chin reduction to attain a younger-looking neck.
- Mini Facelift
During a mini facelift, a tiny incision is made around the ears to elevate the skin, which helps the mouth and jawline. This technique creates subtle improvements that look natural.
This procedure is usually performed with the patient asleep under a general anesthetic and typically takes about 4 – 5 hours, depending on the method used.
WHAT TO EXPECT
After surgery, you will be monitored before you are released to go home with a responsible adult. Before your surgery, your surgeon or a member of our team will plan your follow-up appointments and give you tips to help you heal properly. You should expect to have bruising, swelling, possible drainage, some moderate soreness, and discomfort, which can be helped by taking prescription pain medication. You should look and feel normal after about a month. Once a facelift has been performed, you will continue to age at a normal rate. However, the effects of your procedure will grant you a more youthful, rested, and refreshed appearance.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How much does a facelift cost?
The cost of your facelift will vary based on the technique used. During your consultation, you and your surgeon will develop your custom treatment plan based on your needs and goals. Once this is established, we can discuss cost estimates. To avoid results that look unnatural and tight, it's best to focus on finding an experienced surgeon, like those at Aesthetic Surgery Centre & MedSpa. To ensure that your expert care is affordable, a member of our team can help you find low-interest financing and talk you through our payment plan processes.
Which technique is best for me?
The best technique for you will depend on your needs, goals, degree of skin laxity, the areas being addressed, and more. To produce the results you want, we will explain the different technique options during your consultation. From there, we will give you our input to help choose which technique is suitable for your needs.
Should I get a surgical or nonsurgical facelift?
While there are many nonsurgical skin tightening procedures on the market today, these produce mild improvements in comparison to a surgical treatment. If you have moderate to severe skin sagging, a traditional facelift would typically be the best choice to enhance your appearance. During your consultation, we will discuss your options, including nonsurgical treatments, to help you choose what is best for your goals.
What about wrinkle fillers and relaxers over facelift surgery?
Injectable wrinkle fillers and relaxers, like Juvéderm and BOTOX, have become very popular alternatives to refresh one's overall features. Sometimes known as a liquid facelift, injectable wrinkle treatments usually help with early signs of aging, but the results are temporary and require touch-ups over time. In comparison to injectables, a traditional facelift can produce more dramatic and longer-lasting improvements. If you're interested in nonsurgical solutions or complementary rejuvenation treatments, ask us about injectable options during your consultation.
Will my results look natural?
Many patients worry that facelift surgery will make their skin look too tight, shiny, or like they've lived a wind tunnel. Our team focuses on giving you a natural-looking result so you look refreshed rather than artificial. Your surgeon will listen to your needs and goals before developing your personal treatment plan with the technique that will produce your best results.
