Although you do everything you can to firm and tone certain areas of your body, you likely will still have stubborn pockets of fat that are keeping you from feeling fully confident in yourself. This is why Aesthetic Surgery Centre & MedSpa is proud to offer the latest techniques to safely rid fat from certain body parts. Liposuction, or lipoplasty, is a body reshaping procedure that reduces fat from the abdomen, hips, thighs, and buttocks to produce a leaner appearance. At our plastic surgery facility, this treatment can be blended to treat several body parts. In addition to the many areas that can be treated, there are a number of new techniques (including ultrasound-assisted lipoplasty, the tumescent technique, and the super-wet technique) that can be employed. Your surgeon will work closely with you to decide the most appropriate method for your body. During your initial visit, one of our skilled plastic surgeons will examine problematic areas so you can reach your personal goals. Our desire is for you to look and feel the best you can be. "I was feeling like I was looking tired, old, and not like myself. After a lot of research and inquiry, I was so incredibly lucky to find Marty!! I felt instantly at ease with her - she is kind, sweet, fun, and incredibly knowledgeable about her craft. After telling her what was bothering me, we worked out a plan. Slow and steady over a couple of appointments (my preference), she expertly transformed my problem areas and turned back the clock on my face! The process was virtually pain and bruise free ( and I'm a bruiser) and the results are beautiful! I couldn't be happier. I will absolutely continue to see her to maintain my results. I cannot recommend her highly enough for anyone who wants a beautiful, natural result. She is a treasure!!"- L.P. / Yelp / Jul 17, 2019
"Marty is THE best lip / Botox injector! I’ve had my lips done before and it hurt SO bad but she has a certain technique where it’s completely painless. I recommend her services 110% :)"- K.C. / Google / Jul 12, 2019
Liposuction is a good procedure for individuals who are at a healthy weight but possess pesky areas of fat that have been hard to lose with exercise and diet alone. Men and women contemplating liposuction should have skin that is taut because liposuction does not address loose or sagging skin. It is also important to realize that liposuction is not a solution for weight loss. Women who are considering liposuction should be past pregnancies as this could compromise the results. It is important to discuss your expectations with us so you and your surgeon can have a mutual understanding of the results that can be realistically achieved.
Surgical liposuction is performed as an outpatient procedure with the patient under general anesthesia. A very small incision is made in the skin where a cannula will be placed. The cannula is a tube that helps loosen the fat as it is being removed. Once the desired amount of fatty tissue has been suctioned out, your surgeon will close the incision. Depending on the number of areas receiving treatment, your surgery could last 2 – 4 hours. In our office's on-site recovery area, your post-op team will help manage any pain and care for your incisions until your discharge.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Most patients can go home the same day. However, if multiple procedures or a large volume of liposuction is planned, you could be admitted to a hospital for overnight observation. After this, you will recover at home for about 1 – 3 weeks, depending on the number of areas treated and the size of the treatment area. You may be prescribed pain medications, or you can purchase them over-the-counter. It is normal to see swelling and bruising for 1 – 2 weeks, and you typically can have the sutures removed in 7 – 10 days. What is most important after having liposuction is to allow your body time to rest and recover. When you are ready to return to work, you need to remember to be steady with your activities. To build up your strength, stick to short walks and light workouts as advised by your surgeon. Keep in mind that you may see some changes after six weeks, but it takes 6 – 10 months before your new body shape and contour is fully adjusted and achieved.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How much does liposuction cost?
Your cost for liposuction will vary based on the technique used and the size and number of areas being addressed. During your consultation, you and your surgeon will develop your custom liposuction surgical plan based on your needs and goals. We will also take into consideration your budget. Once your plan is developed, estimated costs can be discussed. To help make your surgery affordable, Aesthetic Surgery Centre & MedSpa accepts many payment options, including insurance and low-interest medical financing.
What about nonsurgical liposuction?
With modern advancements in the cosmetic industry, there are many nonsurgical options available to reduce fat. Some of these popular methods are CoolSculpting®, UltraShape, Vanquish, Liposonix, and Kybella. While these nonsurgical treatments may help reduce small amounts of fat, liposuction often produces the best results for most patients because it delivers more consistent and dramatic results. Talk to a member of our team about nonsurgical liposuction during your consultation. We will go over the benefits and drawbacks of both methods to help you decide which is best for your needs and goals.
What about cellulite and loose skin?
Surgical liposuction only addresses excess fat in the body. If you have loose skin, your surgeon may suggest combining liposuction with a surgical body lift. Liposuction is often performed with skin tightening surgery, such as a tummy tuck, arm lift, or thighplasty, to produce the best results. For cellulite, there are several nonsurgical and minimally invasive treatment options, such as VelaShape. During your consultation, tell us all about your concerns (like loose skin and cellulite) so a comprehensive treatment plan can be developed.
Will I have scars?
Because liposuction is a surgical procedure, incisions will be made and stitched. This will create scars, but we do our best to minimize their appearance. This includes making small incisions in the natural folds of your body or in less visible areas. After your surgery, a member of our team will let you know how to care for your sutures so they heal flat and eventually fade.
Will my results last?
Before you have liposuction surgery, it's important to be committed to maintaining your results. While liposuction reduces the number of fat cells in your body, you can still gain and lose weight over time. We recommend patients to be at or near their ideal weight before having liposuction surgery. Afterward, it is best to stay within 5 – 10 pounds of your post-surgical weight. Pregnancy after liposuction will also impact your results; however, a second surgery or mommy makeover can be performed to refresh your appearance.
